EU head tells Somali warlords to remove militia from Mogadishu streets

It was 25 April when two former presidents of Somalia Hassan Sh Mohamud and Sharif Sh Ahmed have called their tribe in Mogadishu to take arms following the dismissal of Mogadishu police chief after he publicly stopped members of parliament to perform their duties.

The two former presidents now warlords have also called soldiers in their tribe in the army to leave and barricade roads in the capital. This has threatened hard earned security in the city notorious for terror attacks.

The aim of these now tribal warlords is to create fear among the population in order to grab power through tribal means. The Somali house of people have delayed elections for a period of two years however after international pressure.

The EU head has called these now warlords to remove their militia from the capital. It didn’t say if they will impose sanctions.
